Sunday we went to church and things were okay. It was smoky, but bearable. We had already planned to go down to Mesa for some dentist appointments so we decided to pack up and be prepared not to return for a while. We stayed at our good friends Tyler and Mary Davis's house for a few days. Tuesday morning Jason headed back to Eagar to grab a few more things. By Wednesday afternoon he was told to evacuate. Thursday morning I took the 3 younger kids (Braden had scout camp to go to so he stayed in Gilbert with my aunt and uncle) and drove up to Utah. It was an unexpected by nice visit with my family up there. We drove back to Eagar on Saturday, June 18. It wasn't too bad. Most of the smoke had cleared. The fire as of today is about 89% contained. It has burned about 540,000 acres of such beautiful forest land. My heart hurts. We drove up to Alpine to see some of the damage. It was bad, but maybe not as bad as I had thought it would be. Here's one shot (near Alpine):
